‘I might even contribute’ — Davido backs wives having secret bank accounts

Nigerian singer Davido has backed the idea of wives having secret bank accounts, saying he would not be angry if he discovered that his wife had one and might even contribute to it.

Speaking on The Uncut Podcast, Davido was asked whether women should maintain secret bank accounts from their partners.

The singer agreed with the idea but stressed that personal finances should not be limited to women, arguing that both men and women should have accounts of their own.

“Yeah, I think it’s good. I think, I actually think they should,” Davido said.

He explained that couples should maintain personal finances because “you never know” what could happen in the future, adding that they should “mount their ground.”

Davido further said he would not necessarily be upset if he found out that his wife had a secret account.

“If I ever found out like my wife had a secret bank account, I’ll not be angry,” he said.

He jokingly added that he might even contribute to the account, before stressing that everyone in a relationship should have their own personal finances.

“I think everybody should have their own,” Davido concluded.
